Hi all,

Does anyone have advice on how to get CPL instructor privileges using the CAA eLicensing portal? I have all the necessary hours etc and already instruct on multi engine and for IR, but have been made aware by the CAA that I cannot do this application by paper anymore as I have this eLicensing account. I have already tried asking the team on the phone at Gatwick but it was about as clear as mud and I’m not convinced they knew either! Can anyone also confirm that it does not require another assessment of competence to gain this qualification as I’ve just done one in the summer but didn’t apply for it then as I did know I was in need of it then.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim.

All you need is the letter (d) in Section XII of your licence. But that changed to the letter (e) on a recent amendment. Only the UK applies the letter to a licence and right now virtually nobody has the correct letters in their licence. It could of course all change in a few weeks time. As its not actually an EASA requirement I doubt that there is any process in place, they have certainly made no attempt to cope with the recent redesignation of the various letters!

The last few I've seen have started by using the eLicensing system to apply for a variation to their FI certificate. They've then had a generic email asking for logbooks for further proof, which should in reality mean proof of the experience requirements, but wasn't well phrased. Feedback hasn't changed this!

I have seen it. If you apply to amend the rating its a tick box. Then refresh the page and it will ask you for some more details.

It does work.

Thanks all. I’ll give it a go online. This eLicensing has been a shambles for me, I wish I could go back to paperwork.
