A question about correct terminology for a "two minutes to drop" call when carrying out parachute ops in class C but above a CTAF.
I have been making a 2 min call on the CTAF freq and then
"SYD centre and all stations blah blah CTAF, ABC is two mins to para drop FL 120"
Is this spot on? Some guys reckon I can leave out the " SYD centre" call on the second transmission.
Cheers

cjam if you're doing it VFR then there's no need to address the class G operator unless you want a service from them. Your example is additionally confusing because why would you address the CTAF when you're transmistting on the area freq? I'd suggest "All stations (name) drop zone (callsign) two minutes to para drop from (level)". Bet your radio gets a workout ;)

cjam,

I know you asked for an ausi response, but in my airspace we have 3 airports where for some reason people enjoy jumping out of airplanes. We always ask for a one minute warning prior to the jump to advise the pilot of any other air traffic in the area that interfere with the jump.
