Reuters are reporting that Boeing will recommence production of the 737 Max in May. Some suppliers will start delivering parts in April.

Isn’t Seattle and Washington State one of the US’s Covid-19 hotspots? Are airlines going to be in a position to take any deliveries anytime soon. Nearly all have aircraft in storage which will take a good few weeks/months to get back up and running. These will take priority over any deliveries of new aircraft surely.

The article also states that their first priority is planes already built. That would be the logical approach because I expect storage space to be at a premium and it will be a big task as it is to apply whatever fixes are approved to planes already built (including those awaiting delivery and those dotted across the world stored).

In any case, I would have thought any fix or production restart would be subject to the required fixes being approved besides the issues with COVID-19.

Yet another very badly timed announcement by Boeing.

They don't seem to be learning or adapting.
