Hello, I am looking for anyone connected in any way to the East African Airport crash in 1972. My two sisters were on the plane, one was killed in the crash, the other died four days later back in the UK.

I have been shown a few comments from people in this forum, about the crash and would very much like to get in touch with them.

Please let me know if this is the best place to mention this, or if there is a better site, I am new to the forum.

I had to Google too see what crash you were referring to.

It might have been easier for others who are not familiar with the crash your referring to by changing the title to East African Airways Crash Addis Ababa Airport 1972.

There was a dedicated thread about the crash here on pprune dating from 2006 but I don't think that it's on the site anymore. If you Google the title that I have suggested your find it still online plus the official safety record of the crash.

Good luck with what your trying to achieve.

I've got a short account on my site about this accident (a bit more compared to when I posted about it on the 2006 thread), see here: https://www.vc10.net/History/incidents_and_accidents.html#5X-UVA%20Addis%20Ababa%2018%20April%201972
This is based on the official report, Peter Davis' book about East African Airways (https://amzn.to/2vrQU99) and some other accounts and e-mails I've found over the years.

Here's a note from the 2006 thread here on PPRuNe about the crash that might be a lead for more details:

Hi,

My name is Mary [Wairimu] former EAA Cabin Crew, now residing in New Jersey. If you wish you could write to me at the following email address and will tell you all i know of the Accident:
[email protected]

Was a bit in rush.

Bye for now.

mary

The earlier thread is here (same thread pzu linked above but in the full html format):

https://www.pprune.org/aviation-history-nostalgia/245515-east-african-airways-vc-10-accident-1972-addis-ababa.html

Mary also posted a 2010 request for information with her aviation background:

Hi,

Thanks for your response. My name is Mary Wairimu. My username on Pprune websire is flyawaybird. My email address is [email protected].
I would be really interested in knowing what became of my colleagues. I just loved East African Airways VC 10s and all expatriate crew. It was a wonderful airline and at times really misses it. This was the best job I ever did and reminds me of the old happy times, followed by British Airways at Nairobi Airport.

I will be looking forward to your response.

I thank you in advance. Good afternoon.

Mary:D

She was last online here a little over a year ago so she might not see a private message, hope that email address is still good, I'd give it a try.
