The EAD in the title hit my inbox this morning, courtesy of the UK CAA. Here's a link. (https://publicapps.caa.co.uk/docs/33/20200117FAAEAD20200155.pdf)

It's outside my normal area, so I have no special interest, but I wonder if anyone can give us an idea of the effect on the world-wide fleet of taking the required action?

Just curious; will it have a devastating impact, or very little impact? It only concerns certain serial numbers.

The EAD is for 16 specific engine serial numbers within 5 flight cycles. So at the most 16 aircraft will require an engine change.
Not a massive effect worldwide and you can get the aircraft back to base. Looking at the S/No's grouping, it's possible several engines are with the same operator.
Had an AD years ago that reduced the life of turbine wheel discs in a PT6 from 20,000 cycles to 5,000 cycles. only about 20 discs were affected but a King Air 90 we looked after had both engines over the new cyclic limit. Aircraft was grounded for about a week.

Many thanks for that informative response.
