2 December Aviation Herald
Malindo Boeing 737-900, registration 9M-LNH performing flight OD-315 from Jakarta (Indonesia) to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), was climbing through FL220 out of Jakarta when the crew stopped the climb due to cabin pressure problems, that caused the passenger oxygen masks to be released. The aircraft descended to 10,000 feet and returned to Jakarta for a safe landing about 35 minutes after departure.

The airline reported the crew discovered cabin pressure problems when the passenger oxygen masks suddenly deployed.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Jakarta about 37 hours after landing back.

Does anyone know any more about this one? It smacks of Helios a few years ago? There are three things that have to be missed to get this to happen
After takeoff pressure check
FL 100 cross check of DIFF and PRESS readings
Horn at FL 100
Many thanks. Intersting one.

Or they had an emergent problem rather than failed to notice something earlier...

Had this happen when I was still working.F/O forgot to switch bleeds after T/O and Capt shut down the apu. When the pressure decays the masks and horn are pretty much simultaneous.

Nothing like Helios. This was an immediate warning with deployment of masks. All of which was responded to as per SOPS. As trained in the sum. A good day fir all.

Not enough information to make a judgement yet, there could easily have been a genuine technical problem or it could have been crew error. The fact that the aircraft is still grounded is more than likely due to the oxygen generators having been activated and needing to be replaced. Jakarta is a maintenance base, had the problem occurred at a remote destination then the aircraft may need to be ferried back empty as O2 generators are difficult to transport.
