I quickly scanned the thread title and thought this was going to be a little more risqué. Or is it ?

From the quoted article;

“accidentally thrusted during taxi”

I am appalled :E

The story says that the Citation V had been "parked on the runway since November 5." I guess this will teach the crew not to "park on runways."

Don’t we love the press.... can’t wait to see the daily mail report on it!

I have flown at an airport where an sometimes used runway was on occasion used for parking aircraft. Peachtree Airport in Atlanta....very busy airport.

Interesting. They are both in the grass, and there wheel marks behind the V. Wonder if brakes/chocks failed and it rolled?

"t is unclear how many passengers were on board either planes." Oh my gosh....

N973CG landed on 13R and was cleared to taxi on A across 13L to the Cessna Citation Service Center. They requested a phone number for the Service Center and the tower gave it to them. Surely someone wasn't trying to dial a cell phone while taxiing? Or, was it the dropped phone maneuver? That one caused a friend's kid to roll an SUV recently.

SAN ANTONIO – A private jet in taxi accidentally crashed into a parked plane at the San Antonio International Airport Friday afternoon. No one was injured in the wreck that occurred before 4 p.m., according to Joe Arrington, a spokesperson with the San Antonio Fire Department.

Aerial footage from Sky 12 showed one twin-jet plane partially parked on top of another twin-jet plane.

Airport spokesperson Rich Stinson said a Cessna Citation CJ3 accidentally thrusted during taxi and collided with a parked Cessna Citation Encore.

The CJ3 was carrying a pilot, mechanic and two passengers, Stinson said. Both planes were on the tarmac at the time of impact.

Looks like the mishap occurred on the ramp of the Citation Service Center, not on the 'runway'.

Not sure what is more embarrassing "the mounting", or rocking up in the King Air.

Mmmm ..... yes. Indeed.

[Break]

For those puzzled by this ‘mystery for the ages’ - Only one of those jets had the engine covers installed, and the cockpit sunscreens in place.

I was more concerned with the follow-up statement: "It is unclear how many passengers were on board either planes." Is it common to force the passengers to remain onboard for 10 days?

Why on earth would they be doing a run-up on a crowded ramp while taxing out ?

Why on earth would they be doing a run-up on a crowded ramp while taxing out ?

From the timing of the radio calls on LiveATC.net the mishap occurred within a few minutes after arrival at the service center. I'm guessing single engine taxi on a tight ramp with loss of braking perhaps. I sure don't think anybody would use much above breakaway thrust on that crowded ramp.

The cell phone scenarios I mentioned seem less likely on the ramp but then, I have had coworkers with their heads buried in the phone while I'm turning into the blocks in a widebody. 'I already called clear right' is the reply if you question it these days. This multitasking texting is a generational thing I suppose.

Can't think of any reason, particularly as they were actually taxying in after landing at SAT.

Being reported in some quarters that the incident was initiated by the aircraft clipping wings during taxi.
