I stumbled across this photo at an exhibition recently and got to wondering what I was looking at.

I looked up the registration of the biplane in the foreground and this came back as a Waco YQC-6 (see here: Civil Aircraft Register - United States (http://www.airhistory.org.uk/gy/reg_N50.html))

Does anybody know what the other type is?

I think it's a Fairchild 24.

This is indeed captioned Fairchild 24 (two of them).

I wouldn't have thought of the Fairchild 24, thanks for that. For some reason I always associate that type with the Ranger-engined variant only.

Edit: and I agree on the amphibian, that's a Sikorsky S-39.
