On final, the check of 'Rich, fine and 3 greens' - Can anybody pl. elaborate . I know Rich is for- mixture rich and Fine- pitch but what do the 3 greens stand for?

i bet one stands for "Gear" and another one for "Gas selector"

Three greens stands for

two main landing gears and one nose wheel down and locked.

"3 Greens" always refers to the indicator lights for gear being down and locked.

Several Piper pilots of old acquaintance refer to "reds, blues and greens" since on most Piper aircraft, the mixture control handles are red, and the prop lever handles are blue.

harriers,draakens and concorde have four greens. there may be others.

Fokker 50 has 4 greens too.

Cessna Cardinal has one green (nose wheel only, you can see the rest)

'G-AB final one green................................because we only have one' always used to wake up the controller.
