Hello,

I was wondering if you know the names and locations of flights schools in Europe that would be able to do an FAA ATP to JAA ATPL Conversion?

I currently have my FAA ATP and 2700+ of multi-crew, multi-engine, turbine time.

I know Oxford Aviation in the UK is one, anyone know any others? Portugal? Spain? Netherlands? France? Etc.

Thanks.

JAA has been dead and buried for the past 5 years. Its all EASA now.

Ok, what school in Europe besides Oxford does FAA to EASA ATP conversion?

An EASA ATPL test has to be done in a Sim, so any place that offers type ratings should be able to help you. If you have 500 hours on type, you can skip the course and just sit the test. Have you done the exams?

I've done the VFR and IFR Comm exams. However, the exams have expired.

Ok, so you'll need to get an EASA class 1 medical then pass 14 ATPL exams before you touch a SIM.

As an ATPL holder you don't need to do a course, you can self certify for the exams - but expect to take 6-12 months to pass them.

As for the conversion, you can either hire a SIM for a type you have 500 hours on, do the skills test and they'll give you the type rating, or do a full type rating course for another type and take the ATPL skills test at the end.

I heard the sim is waived if you're experience. I have over 2500 hrs multi-crew, multi-engine, turbine, jet, etc.

So, can the sim be waived?

No. If you have 500 hours on the type you take the test in, the type rating course is waived, but you still have to take a licence skill test - in a SIM. But that's the easy part. You still have to pass the exams.
