As a passenger, I've noticed on several flights in the A321 ceo that there is an increase in light buffet during the landing flare. Does anyone know anything about this or I am imagining things?

Tech fact: the flaps are quite different.

The tires seem larger to my eye, never checked the book for that.

Never noticed. I did not fly as a pax often. But it’s definitely the best of the 320 family to land smooth. :cool:
At least, it most of the time feels smooth like on A330. I never had as a pax a bad landing on A330. but the G load is not necessarily low and can easily be a hard landing in case of late or no flare.
A320 and especially 319 very often seems a bit ruft but the G load is very low compare to A321. I guess cause of the weight. Not sure why.:}

yes indeed feels like a buffeting of the horizontal stab, felt it myself, never traced it down to anything

Don't think I've ever noticed. It's quite hard to judge things from aft of the cabin door anyway, but one thought on flight controls that actively try to protect the structure of the aircraft (most FBW airliners), is that they tend to make the motions worse...they care about the metal bits, not the passengers so there will always be competing factors affecting the ride???
