Jez Cooke ATC Glasgow/Heathrow RIP

It is with great sadness this posting is placed here to state that Jez has taken his last flight from Katherine House Hospice and is now Beacon Outbound on his final journey. He has fought Pancreatic cancer which swiftly took hold of him 6 weeks ago and passed away today with Paula, his loving wife, by his side.
Jez would not have wanted any pity and in fact would much prefer a celebration of his life. Whilst this will be a shock to some, others have been given time to say goodbye to him and laugh and cry in his final days. Please follow this page over the next few days where details and a date will be given of his final celebration he wanted of his life will be posted.
Perhaps as a tribute to Jez, all his friends, fellow aviators, work colleagues etc may like to pay their respects on his Facebook page with a message of what he meant to you, a funny story or a lesson learnt from such a great man.

Yes it was. He was a wonderful pilot, flying anything from biz jets to racing machines. Jez was also an ATCO and served at Glasgow, Heathrow and Birmingham. A true gentleman and all-round good egg. I can still hear his raucous laugh in the ops rooms at Heathrow. God Bless Jez +

So sorry to hear the news. Had a delightful exchange of PMs with him last year about the Mystery Ship and I now wish I'd been quicker to take up his offer of a guided tour around the aeroplane at Turweston. He came across as a thoroughly nice guy. Those of you who knew him were lucky indeed to have done so - and I will remember with great delight the Mystery Ship display he did at Duxford alongside the Comet, Mew Gull and Cosmic...

RIP Jez - He is already missed at Oxford Airport, the abuse he use to give me, using many words such as 'ugly', 'fat' etc., me telling him he smells and is a "peasant... not any old peasant but a quality peasant". As others have mention he is 'a true Gentleman' and my thoughts are with Paula at this very sad time.

I would like to share 1 or 2 memories with you all. One afternoon I arrived at work and could see a DH Puss Moth parked on the apron. When I entered the Terminal Jez came bouncing up to me and I immediately put two & two together. "Come and see what I have flown in with" with great glee, looking out the window I replied "Should that not be hanging from a Museum Ceiling?"; the abuse, Parent doubting and general non PC comments flooded my way. When ever Jez turned up at Oxford I always use to ask after Paula and enquired whether she had regained her eye sight and seen what she had married; the reply was generally "I do remind her how lucky she was to be married to me" followed by me saying "Oh, her eye sight has not come back then".

Jez you will be missed by us all and I will miss all the great banter we had; God help the Angels now you have your wings.

I first met Jez when he was a Staff Cadet at 637 Gliding School, a man never afraid to challenge himself - or others in a friendly way. He brought so much to this peculiar world of aviation that we share. From his little red Mustang - to the Falcon tri jet and everything in between - Jez, you are remembered with affection by all who knew you, your legacy to the world of aviation will endure.

Jez & I were good friends, long time ago.I read here in PPRuNe that he died nearly 2 years ago.I try to reach Paula by telephone and by letter, but she don't live anymore in Banbury, I suppose.

Did his ATCO Cadet approach radar endorsement at Farnborough where he had to be 'restrained' from b0ll0cking pilots for minor infringements even though he flew the same type of aircraft and knew their limitations.
