Hi all,

Thnx for all the Pilots who contribute to what has become our annual survey of Aviation workers in our region, hopefully you all can this year too.

These surveys started in 2011 when we were sick of airlines constantly announcing that their internal surveys showed that staff were fully engaged. They'd never release their full results though so we thought, why not put out our own version and publish the complete outcome.

We compare airline against airline with the same questions each year so the measuring stick remains the same. It'll only take about 10 minutes to complete and you can do so from the link below.

500 responses so far thanks all. Keep them coming. We need as much pilot data as we can get.

But what does that figure mean. Is it the amount of employees who completed the survey?,is it the number who are 'engaged'.

A high percentage is more engaged, ie happy with their job / employer etc. A low percentage the opposite.

Based on about 700 contributors according to Fed sec's last post.

I used to drive for one of the listed Co's, got out a few years ago so as not to end up wanting to hurt someone!!
Now in the Pvt commercial sector for which this survey doesn't cater for. Life is too short to be part of that ugly RPT industry!
Knowing what I know of the industry it's a pretty good reflection on what's happening, sad really-(

The figures are nothing to do with how many people respond. There is a fallacy about these surveys when run by big companies. A lot of employees don't fill them out because they think every completed survey means one more engaged person.....that's not the case. There is a standard formula used to rate every response to every question.
Last year a Qantas manager let slip how they always get a high rating. Qantas only take 7 of the 60 or so questions and measure them only. They take all the warm and fuzzy questions such as "do you get along well with your workmates". In their results they don't include questions such as "do you trust management". When we publish the results of this survey....it includes the lot.

About 200 more responses needed across the industry guys and we will be able to work out the results. Thanks in advance for the Pilot's who have/will respond.

Did you get a good response Steve?

Let me guess...

QF/JQ flat or even better than last time

VA/TT won’t be pretty. Can engagement rate go into negative?

Alliance pilots seem happy.

Network will always rate well as the lifestyle is very easy over in the west.

RFDS is never a happy camp. Too many silos.

Cathay is another ballsup. I’ve blocked some on Facebook due to ongoing rants.

The prize for bottom of the ladder would have to be a contest between Tiger and Niugini.

Ok results are in. Good response? Is getting harder each year after the massive response in the first year we commenced these surveys.

Your estimates are slightly out PappaJo. Qantas are down and Virgin leading them again. Withholding the bonus has angered a lot of employees even if just the principle of the matter.

I have heard that Qantas won't run an internal survey this year. I suppose they will argue that they can get more accurate results by having sit down sessions with select feedback groups (hand picked of course). Whatever they do I suspect they will announce that employees are more engaged than ever so the full portion of their KPI bonus is paid.

I worked, until September last year, in the Auckland Call Centre and we were forced to do the internal survey
