Airstrip for sale in Surrey with planning permission for hangarage and airstrip (according to the estate agent blurb).
Unfortunately it comes with a farm too so the price is £4M

It says 580m in the brochure.

Interesting, GE is definitely 860m - but I don't have the brochure yet...

The link I posted worked when I first posted but doesn't now. (still does in Flyer Forums) I've re-checked the address and it's OK but the brochure is a pdf in the advert.

Might want to edit that link, it puts the PPRUNE address first then the actual link.

The strip is less than a mile from where I was at boarding school between 1975 and 1982 - despite a bunch of us spending quite a lot of spare time looking at passing aircraft, only once saw something using it, a Cessna twin, probably a 310. Not sure if it landed or not but it was very low, the gear was down and it disappeared behind the trees at the appropriate spot. I did wander along the adjacent bridleway once but couldn't see anything. There was another strip somewhere south of Witley station which housed a pair of very active Jodels.

Thanks; I never noticed that and I haven't a clue how it got there!
Edited now so it should work; it contains another link to the pdf brochure

Asking £4M plus demolition costs plus development (they don't state the calculated costs, how many MMM, maybe two-digit M on top)? That is a big, big, huge chunk of money for such an estate. How could you ever expect to get a return on such an invest in that area? Sounds they look for the Prince of Persia to dump money. I fear for this price tag this one will go the road to house construction area as well.

The Shah of Persia actually used to own a place a few miles north east.

Didn't know that, I know Paul Getty owned a place the other side of Guildford, Sutton Place.

The gaff owned by the Shah was at Munstead Heath, just south east of Godalming. Easy to spot on google due to the teardrop shaped horse gallops in the grounds. A previous owner of that property had an aircraft based there during the late 1950s, can’t recall the specific type but think I’ve read that it was a Miles or Percival machine,

I remember Dunsfold ATC teling me one day they had just worked a guy landing there; must have been late '70s, the Shah being deposed early '79.
I also remember hearing that someone had done a PFL there and his reg had been reported to the CAA for flying within 500ft of a person, vessel, vehicle or structure.

Ah, I know the place, didn't realise who had owned it. Used to visit friends who lived in Thorncombe Street. Recall someone flew a light aircraft into a hillside just to the south and north of Dunsfold in poor weather several decades back.

Plaistow in about 1972 or 3? Just before I arrived at Farnborough but he had been talking to us.

A Piper Apache belonging to Dan-Air flew into high ground near Loxhill (south of Godalming) in 1966.

It was Bolkow Junior G-ATVB (https://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/20150203205654/http://www.aaib.gov.uk/cms_resources.cfm?file=/2-1973%20G-ATVB.pdf), 6/1/72 - crashed into high ground near Hambledon - presumably Hydon's Ball or one of the other hills just NW of Dunsfold. That the one you were thinking of Chevvron? Must have been very close to the crash site of the PA-23.

Yes that's the one.
The late 'Honey Monster' of this forum told me he had been working it; he told me the newspaper headline at the time said something like 'Hero pilot dives into trees to save school'.

Here's another one, in quite different whereabouts. Slightly less expensive, and looks a good deal more impressive. With some negotiating skills, the Cessna might even be in the deal! :) The runway seems shorter, though, perhaps 300m only.

If the € drops below €100 = £1 after Brexit I'm interested, providing the strip doesn't have high obstacles at either end.:O

It appears to be a partition of the Benazir Bhutto estate. Interesting.

Sadly only 24 bedroom, not enough for a decent harem ...
