it's alleged that airline crews, specifically Malindo, have been smuggling drugs into Australia, on a large scale. Don't expect security to get easier anytime soon.

Interesting that the authorities have been so public in declaring this ‘bust’ a success. Catching a team like this who have been running contraband for at least 5 years (as has been stated) or more, exposes some pretty worrying flaws.

When you add up the amount of possible flights/deliveries over that period of time...

No doubt the folks that did get caught are sacrificial and were part of a business plan, which looks to have been pretty successful.

Expect this case to fade away.

Whilst reference is made to China it is equally unfortunate that they were not 'caught' at home in Malaysia.

No doubt there will be some weasel words from Malaysia especially as they are well practised in doing that after MH 370.
I wonder why the AFP didn't drop a word to their Malaysian counterparts as has been indicated to have occured in some Bali cases.

Isn't it passing strange that drug-smuggling nationals of Singapore or Malaysia are rarely caught in the act in their home countries where the penalty for such is death?

I know it´s not a good nor justifiable reason, but lets face the fact. The way airline industry has been cutting costs the last decade and the pay and conditions offered to crew in general, is most certainly not helping a weak soul in refraining from the temptation of some easy money to top up the account at the end of the month. There is an element of responsibility with the airline - since they are the sponsor of their employed crew, and therefor also a responsible part of this. Hopefully this will be considered in the end.

Malaysia has abolished the death penalty, so I guess it's open season for the AFP to pass on info to the Malaysians and let them sort it out.
