Transition from turbo prop to wide body

hello all
is it the right way for an airline to transit pilots from turbo prop less than mtow20 ton directly to wide body despite of having narrow body fleet .
if yes why and if no why

Not normal practice but probably do-able with proper training. Remember that the new pilot will have an extended apprenticeship with experienced captains and, in any event, wide-bodies tend to be flown more conservatively than the smaller jets. My main concern would be lack of hands-on handling in the long-haul environment. Not ideal but in a world short of pilots this may become more common.
