Mainstream media are reporting that Hannover Airport is closed due to unauthorised vehicle on the runway. Checking their latest departures and arrivals, everything looks smooth.

Is this yet another fake news story?

There are no photographs or videos though of this incident.

Maybe LGW Police will be on the case and arrest two innocent citizens again..

Not fake. According to FE24 the last movement was at 15:48. Four inbound diversions, same number of cancellations.

We don't know if the authorities are over-reacting to a a single daft individual or have intelligence of a serious plot - but you can understand caution.

Not sure if the Daily Star counts as a reliable news source, but they do have a picture, source unverified, in addition to some details here (https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/world-news/750442/breaking-hannover-airport-closed-germany-travel-news)

How the hell does some one manage to get into the airport resteicted area never mind on to the runway without authorization unless they literally drove through the perimeter fence/gate and just kept going in which case they must have been seriously drunk?

Apparently, fuelled by cocaine and amphetamines, the 25 year old driver drove his vehicle through a barrier gate onto the runway and attempted to follow a plane that had just landed, so "Der Spiegel" reports. Car had polish licence plates, but nationality of driver has not been revealed.

......... a man drove a car through a fence onto the tarmac.....
Police have said there was no indication that Saturday's incident was terror-related, and are reportedly investigating whether the man was under the influence of drugs.

It's a real event, a car crashed through and got on to the runway. The car itself its registered in Poland, the driver has been described as of being of an "unknown nationality"
The car was being checked for explosive devices but this may be normal procedure in such cases.

I wonder how long will it take for the enlightened regulators to come up with mandatory concrete vehicle barriers at all airport perimeter entry points, now that the cockpit door threat had already been taken care of... :ugh:
