Hmm, I wonder how many tail strikes occur around the world every day?

Hmm, I wonder how many tail strikes occur around the world every day?

Happened just the other day in Hong Kong to an Air Canada B777-300ER.

Quite a few as of late..

Dec 13:
“During the flight from Ufa to Nizhnevartovsk during the take-off of an Airbus A321 aircraft, the runway touched the tail of the fuselage (tail strike),” the Ural Airlines press service reported. - The commander of the aircraft decided to land in Yekaterinburg. Landing went well. (The runway touched the tail, NOT a tailstrike!)

On December 11, at the Neryungri airport, the Boeing 737-800 of the Yakutia airline interrupted its takeoff, the carrier’s press service reported. The plane was supposed to fly to Krasnoyarsk.
“At the initial stage of the takeoff, the aircraft commander made a decision on the forced cessation of take-off and full stop of the aircraft due to the aircraft configuration that did not allow it to continue taking off,” the message says. (again, NOT a tailstrike!)
According to media reports, the plane during takeoff * at the airport hit the runway with its tail. In the message of the airline there is no information about this.

Dec 11:
Air Canada #AC15 (https://twitter.com/hashtag/AC15?src=hash) from Toronto struck runway with their tail while landing in Hong Kong. Pilot reported “right on landing... we ended up with a tail strike”. No injuries reported. Outbound flight to Toronto #AC16 (https://twitter.com/hashtag/AC16?src=hash) canceled. Aircraft tail damaged. C-FITW Boeing 777-300 (what an unfortunate registration !)

Which proves my point. Not really newsworthy in the grand scheme of things!

"...the runway touched the tail of the fuselage"

Ural Airlines press service has already found the culprit - the runway!
