Is there an online resource for checking why, for example, a flight was diverted? An American Airlines flight (96) PHL-BUD was diverted shortly after takeoff on Oct 7 and landed at JFK, I tried Aviation Herald, but nothing was listed there, so perhaps whatever the issue was did not rise to the level of posting there. Also did a Google search and couldn't find anything. Still, I'm curious about it and wondered if there is someplace else I can check.

Never heard of one or been mentioned in here for all the time I've been posting. External records tend only to occur when there has been an incident. Aircraft divert every day and the operations department will most certainly keep a record but it would be commercially sensitive.

Have you tried the AA section over on Flyertalk?

Thanks. Just looked. No joy.

Found this: Flight Alerts on Twitter
Engine failure, apparently.
