Bad weather this time, lack of accommodation meant the crew initially slept here.... later moved to the VIP lounge, or did they?.

The crew – already at odds with their management – was forced to sleep on the crew room floor and decided to take a picture (see below). After seeing the picture on social media, Peter Bellew tweeted that the crew didn’t spend the entire night on that floor but was offered an access to the VIP lounge of Malaga airport: “The storm created huge damage in Portugal. Later after this the crew moved to VIP lounge. Apologies to the crew we could not find accommodation”. But that information seems to be untrue as Alex Macheras discovered (https://aviationanalyst.co.uk/2018/10/15/ryanair-leave-crew-to-sleep-on-airport-floor-before-their-flight/): “I’ve spoken to the ‘SALA VIP’ lounge at Malaga Airport, the only lounge in the terminal, who confirmed no crew from any airline entered the lounge, and not only described it as “against lounge policy” but added “it’s also impossible, as our lounge closes at 23:00 each night, and this was the case on the night of flight disruption caused by the storms”.

That's definitely staged and it has been confirmed that it is!

Do the Ryanair guys and girls always spoon like that? What a cosy airline!

Ok so what? It has been confirmed they were all left to spend the night in the crew room. How anybody has let their moral fibre degrade so much that they can defend this pathetic company is beyond me.

You are always giving out about Ryanair, sour grapes maybe?

There was severe weather as Hurricane Leslie ( after being on CAP in mid-Atlantic (https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/archive/2018/LESLIE_graphics.php?product=5day_cone_with_line_and_wind)) went across Portugal at relatively short notice. There was bound to be a lack of accommodation. It is not that the crew had to spend the night in the crew room that is the issue if it all goes pear shaped that can happen to anyone. It is what happened after the bad night that is important: were they expected to be ready to fly the next morning or were they given a longer break to ensure they were fit to fly? If they felt that they were unfit to fly it is up to them to report that and not fly.
