I'm embarrassed to have so few photos for show and tell, but my excuse is that I've been too busy flying. Seaplane rating in a Super Cub, can it get any better than that?
I'm obviously not much of a sailor, five tries before I managed to dock at a pier yesterday. Hum. I blame the wind.
Here we are in the middle of the lake at Biscarrosse. And outside the hangar, while I recover from pumping out the floats. It's astounding how much water finds its way in.
On the whole I think the best bit is taxi-ing on the step. Doing whole 360 turns, then back the other way. Amazing stuff.

Well, I passed the check ride. Didn't fly as well as I could've, should have, would have, but I did well enough. SEP SEA. It was fun. And in a Cub.

Thanks for the account and photos. Guessing floats would have a vent for air pressure equalization, but is there any other place on them that any amount of water can ordinarily enter?

Excellent, another life ruined by exposure to the delights of float flying :ok:

You think "that was fun" but pretty soon you will be jonesing for another fix. As a former pusher...errrrr...I mean float plane instructor, I have seen what happens when you get a taste :E

Dogsridewith (good name, that) I don't think there is a vent as such, but as there is always some water gets in, I guess the air gets out the same place.
Big pistons...yep, you could be right. I expect I will be back. Just what I need, another addiction.

You're braver than me! - I won't fly in an amphibian, having gathered that the easiest way to kill yourself in a seaplane is to land on the water with the wheels down.

And to answer your question can it get any better than that? yes it can: solo a Beaver. But of course nobody has ever let me do that.
