Qantas doesn't have a Head Office - that's way too 2000's - they have a Campus.
The centre of productivity where the heads of departments such as Basket Weaving, Story Telling and Workplace Experience Coordination regularly gather, is called the Street.
At the head of the Street is the open space where 'Town Halls' are broadcast to the masses by the Even Greater Heads.

At least I think that's what he's talking about…...

If you are seeking employment with Qantas it's important that you understand this type of shi.. motivational facilitation language. (Which is why current Pilots don't understand it!)

It is no different elsewhere.

Whether it is Cathay Pacific City or Waterside in the UK, the last thing any of the 'funksters' consider between their almond milk lattes and regaling tales of weekend activities, is the real risk to life of many people every time an aircraft slips the surly bonds.

S/O needs to visit the offices for some reason or other. He’s asked not to wear uniform, as the denizens of the campus find it intimidating.

A Captain in uniform is asked what he does in the company.

I reckon one day about 100 pilots should rock into the street in full uniform and just sit and have coffee for a few hours. Productivity would probably go up as everyone would have to return to their desks to work rather than hanging out in the street.

...and if you're lucky, Kim Jong Al might appear and make a rousing speech while you're there.

Do they issue sick bags at the door?

Just remember, every time you do a single engine taxi, you are helping to pay for this excess!

I had a good laugh about 6 months ago when I seen a QF desk job opening in Sydney, position was probably a social media analyst or something like that. Anyway, listed as one of the perks of the job was “Friday night live music and socialising”.

Who’s in charge of these people?

True story;

A captain, in uniform, was on the shuttle from Domestic to QCC. A young employee on the bus asked him if he was Qantas ambulance personnel. When queried why she might think that she said that Qantas was a big company and they might have need for such. Bus driver reportedly had difficulty maintaining control of said shuttle.

I’m guessing she was on minimum wage.

The one small method error in that hypothesis is the assumption that there is a productivity differential between the office and the cafe. It is highly probable that even if they were sent home their productivity would not be statistically different...
