I found this interesting...how the Olympic flame is air transported.

Doesn't this violate some ICAO "laws"? Hazardous materials? Transport of dangerous goods?

understand also that the lamp cradles are designed to extinguish the flame when tipped.
Modern version of a Davy lamp used in Methane filled coal mines.

I remember an old cartoon that had an Olympic athlete sitting the cabin holding a burning torch. The passenger beside him says "Shouldn't you at least run up and down the aisle?".

Couldn't they just use it to ignite the fuel in the engines? that's a fairly safe way of transporting a flame via aircraft. Of course, extracting it at the far end might be challenging.
