A 787-8 ANA232 from Brussels to Narita made emergency landing due to crecked left window.

Left, meaning cockpit?
Heater failure or bird strike, I would imagine.

No further details. Only known left cockpit window cracekd when flying at 35000 ft. Crew decided to divert to helsink.

Yes, it was said to be a cracked cockpit windscreen. Exact cause not given AFAIK.

Or did you mean first diversion of an All Nippon 787 to Helsinki with a cracked windscreen ? :O

What it says on the checklist and how people may be reacting post the the Chinese incident are two different things. With a long flight ahead over northern Russia I have some sympathy for the pilot in command's decision. There do seem to be noticeably more such incidents recently.
