Ive just ordered a SAB 2000 Reciever made by Transiar. Im picking it up tomorrow from a pilot shop at Newcatle Airport.

I was just wondering, does anyone know how good the SAB 2000 is and will it be ok for listening to Newcastle Tower, Radar etc...

I bought it for practicing RT and for the Sunderland International Air Show at the weekend.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance guys

I don't know how good that particular receiver is, but assuming it is decent or better quality, then having a good antenna mounted as high as possible will optimize it.

Just done a quick search on 'google' for 'SAB2000'. Seems to have a reasonable spec. and write-up, given the price, and although I've not used one, I would expect it to be satisfactory for your stated use. As with all things, you get what you pay for, but reception should be acceptable using a decent aerial, as mentioned above.

Good Luck.
