Can someone plse tell us the origins of O Days?
Why are they in the CX FTL’s even though there’s only one type of DDO in the HKCAD CAP371.

Why are you happy to have them at all?

"O" days are cheap reserve days - Land, make your 8929 call, oops - your 4 "O" days in a row are now a pattern and they never had to give you credit for reserve.

O days were introduced in 2001 as a response to the industrial action at the time. They were designed to increase flexibility during the maximum safety campaign being run by the union. The then DFO (NR) said; "If the pilots show some goodwill, we will consider removing O days", ... or words to that effect. Of course, they never did, and now the majority accept them as part of the way things are.

The whole purpose of an O day was to make sure crews that were caught out downroute by disruptions and cancellations in HKG can get back to HK with out it affecting their G days, now the company uses them as free reserve days

Anyone who can leave CX is making plans to do so, and it's because of crap like this (and that is only one of a v-e-r-y long list of crap). Cxit indeed.

Problem now is these mo’tards will not relinquish them. Therefore the NC should draw a line in the sand with regards to O days in the future RP. If they are used at all and a subsequent duty performed on an O day then it should be compensated at G day call out rates, or they can remove them from RP altogether. I know which option I want....

And the G Day callout will be monthly salary/84 x 2, or a bajillion dollars, whichever is greater.

Nowadays a longhaul or freighter pattern is followed by G days - if you get stuck you loose your G day without compensation.

Only one way to get even unfortunately.

Seriously. And you sat on them since 2001 and did NOTHING to remove them?
What is G Day then?
