airplane ownership

I would like to know if foreigners can own a C- registered airplane in Canada.
Anybody who knows the regulations about it?

The more precise regulation you'll be looking for is 202.15 in the referenced CAR's. In short, the aircraft must be owned by a Canadian citizen, or a Canadian corporation. You'll probably find that a Canadian corporation requires some Canadian ownership. I know non Canadians who have owned a Canadian corporation, with minor Canadian citizen participation ownership, to enable them to own a Canadian registered aircraft.

Yes, I found the 202.15. I understand that only canadians persons or canadian companies can own airplanes.

In short, the only path to aircraft ownership for foreigners in Canada is to have a corporation which involves minor Canadian participation and ultimately register the aircraft under the corporation name?
That's convoluted. Why make this specifically hard for aircraft ownership and not for, e.g., cars?

Ha! Well, that would be nice, however; with the new tax laws coming into effect and the ramifications of utilizing an aircraft registered to a business and utilizing it for pleasure.....best to fly First, Business or charter your own aircraft as that's what the new proposed legislation will tax you at.

Perhaps registering the aircraft in another country might be a workaround worth investigating. Why does GA red-tape have to be such a pain pretty much anywhere worth flying?
