Hello all,

I am looking for wedding venues or stately homes with a RWY around 1 to 2 hours drive from London, something like the Old Warden aerodrome.

Suggestions?

Thanks.

Sywell ticks all the boxes. Complete with hotel on the airfield.

What about Charlton Park? Pretty sure they do weddings, and its SO lovely there.

When my eldest daughter was married here at home (where I have a runway), not only did I not fly on the day before, of and after, but I parked my planes in the middle of the runway, so no one else could fly here either. Though I considered that risk of a crash very small, the outcome would have, at the very least, been to permanently ruin her wedding day forever - worse, maybe hurt someone. My desire to fly did not overpower my desire that her wedding be a perfect event - and it was!

For my choice, some things are more important than planes, and the freedom to fly them....

Charlton Park would be excellent !

Long runways and a beautiful location for a wedding.

Plenty of hotels in Malmesbury and surrounding area.

Hey Arik12,
If you extricate the wedding plans from the equation , it'll afford you a heck of a lot more flying...;)

PS Don't let your fiancé read this though.

AIUI the owner also owns a runway next to the hotel but it is not actually part of the hotel.

Earls Colne Airfield is situated next to the Essex Golf & Country Club, may be worth considering.

Think I saw recently that Kemble now have a licence so you can get married in the tower or the 747

Great idea, and if you have second thoughts when you get to the “I do” part you can firewall the controls, pull your best short field technique and head off into the sunset a single man.

Thank guys, good locations. Im afraid the future misses is scanning this page so no, I dont plan to fly into the sunset.

Couldnt do it even if I wanted too, no night rating.......

Make sure you hire a professional pilot to do the flying. Somebody completely unrelated to anybody there.

There have been a few cases of the PPL groom killing the wedding party, too much on his mind at the time perhaps.
