Either one.
Under FAA you can do a “PIC-type” or “SIC-type” rating.
If you share what you need it for we may be able to help you better.

Correct, if it is a SIC type that will show in the limitations section. From the FAA FSIMS-

QUESTION 1: On a pilot certificate, should the limitation of SIC pilot privileges be placed on line XII of FAA Form 8060-4 with the SIC pilot type rating, or by itself on line XIII?
· ANSWER 1: The type rating should be listed on line XII on FAA Form 8060-4, and the SIC pilot limitation should be on line XIII.

Ok.....
How about having them check your credentials on the FAA website?

I’m hoping they’re doing a little more of a background check then just eyeballing your plastic certificate card?
Best example I can find on short notice

If your certificate does NOT state SIC priviliges only then it’s a PIC type rating.
The ‘powers that be’ that you are trying to convince should know that.
