Not clever, but it seems he hadn't reported for duty (?). He may have been planning to ring in sick, which means that's one crime he hasn't committed. Probably plenty of others though.

Happenstance or finguring that he was discovered?

Looks like a hotel room so we can probably assume it was on a night stop. Not likely to have been a very long layover either given that it was within Indonesia.

Oh dear! Hopefully he is cashed up to pay for all his upcoming "expenses". Making the front page of the Jakarta post reduces his "options" greatly. Silly man. His accommodation will be downgraded for a while....

Lion Air flies DPS-Kupang once daily. 0855-1040, returning 1500-1655. Maybe an aircraft had a problem and overnighted....

@Herod - He didn't have the chance of reporting for duty as he was arrested at the hotel during the overnight stay before his next schedule (the day after) and the company swiftly replaced him as soon as they were notified of the incident.

@Metro Man - It is a hotel room (you can even read the hotel name and his room number in the "The Jakarta Post" article using the link posted by the Thread Starter).

@Octane - No problem with the aircraft on the day. It is standard practice for the Crew to either continue with another schedule (i.e. not back to Denpasar) around 40-45 minutes after landing OR overnight in Kupang and continue with a different schedule the next day. Both ways, it will normally be a different Crew flying back to Denpasar.
