Hi everyone,

in Munich they have installed PCA-Units (pre-conditioned air) at all bridges for A/C climatization. Now there is the idea of using these units for fan-blade de-icing. Has anyone ever seen this at any other Airport before?

Thanks for info!

Seen that in other places too - for fan blades and for prop blades.

Nothing wrong with that AFAIK

Can you remember where? BTW I am not referring to mobile units but to units that are mounted at the jetties...

Seen it a few times in various places, but yes, they were mobile units, as far as I remember.

Still, can’t see what difference it makes. Hot air is hot air, be it from a mobile unit, or a fixed one...

Oslo Gardermoen? Any Norwegians here, they are the experts?

Stockholm ARN T2 has pre conditioned air hoses installed underground. They come up through a hatch in the ramp. I use it for deicing the fan blades. But the air is not very hot, around 23deg C so not much use when it is really cold. Then we get the mobile unit out which runs much hotter.
