Sorry for the repeat post but couldn't find any recent thread.

I'm looking to get a FCLV to fly recreationally in Toronto area. I have a EASA ATPL with SEP/Land still valid and by looking at Trasport Canada website it looks a fairly quick process to get a validation.

Anyone could shed some lights about how long in advance should I submit the papers? I've also heard that it can be done on site without appointment.

Thanks a million

On site with or without an appointment depending upon what office you're going to. Hamilton, Ontario might be less busy than one of the Toronto ones.

You just have to take all your papers into the office and they'll do it there for you, once you pay the fee.

With the FLVC in hand, you'll then go to a flight school for a checkout flight.

You can also apply before arriving in Canada. This might save you a trip to the TC office.

If applying from abroad, TC can email you a copy of the FLVC (and send the original to your home address). Allow a few weeks if you want to wait for the original to arrive via post, or just a couple of days if you only care about the email copy.

I did this earlier this year and presented the documents in Toronto as they opened, the FLVC was in my email that day, they did however say that same day service isn't normal. I found them to be very helpful and friendly.
