Hi guys, I need your help in this matter.
I would like to know which of these aircrafts you would choose if you need to start a career soon and you have this two options. What hour is more valuable in terms of experience to apply for a heavy jet position in a future. Imagine you are a single engine FI with low hours.
Take into consideration that you would fly same hours per month in both... Price of TR and base location is not relevant in this question..

These two aircrafts are:

- Saab 340 - Turboprop, MTOW 30000lb, Maximum altitude 30000feet (CARGO/PASSENGERS)
- Cessna Citation Bravo - Turbine, MTOW 14,8000lb, Maximum altitude 45000feet (AMBULANCE)

Thank you in advance”

It would help if you post the question in the correct area, instead of being lazy.

You're not telling us where you are (which may or may not be relevant), but I would say it's about six one way and half-dozen the other. Air carrier turboprop vs corporate jet (to me anyway) offer about the same value. One question I would ask is which offers a quicker upgrade.

Is the max ceiling relevant? :}

Both are pretty bad in my opinion but better than nothing.

If, with the Saab 340, you get the same type for the 2000 go for it.

MTOW is more important in aviation instead of max altitude...

I would say the Citation Bravo.

It's a MPA (two crew) and a jet, so if you want to apply for a 'heavy jet position' in the future, this experience would be more relevant than the Saab.

Although it's a long time ago, I was in this position myself. I was a flying instructor with about 3500hrs and then flew as copilot on the Citation II for 3 years/1200hrs. (Alternative jobs were available on F-27 and Shorts turboprops.) After that I joined an airline in the RHS of a B737 and was a captain within 18 months.

At the airline interview, they were very interested in the fact that I was familiar with high-level airspace, met and ATC. I had also visited all of the airports to which they operated. I can't say whether similar experience on a turbo-prop rather than a Citation would have made a difference, but it felt like the jet time was important to them.

Good luck, whatever you decide!

Many AUS folks have recently been taken into the major jet airlines holding almost exclusively SAAB hours. Seems like an open door at the moment.

The initial training is tough, the checks are rigorous, and the FMS doesn't fly everything for you. (VNAV not coupled to A/P) You'll probably log 4-600hrs per year, and most direct entry guys stare down a command within 6-12 months.

So, Saab type rating is quite tough? Dont scare me”” hahah
I definitely like the citation bravo more althought i would prefer passenger insted of ambulance service.Furthermore it has not glasscockpit so its a bit old.
I think I will choose the Saab 340 eventually...However, i have still doubts about what hour is would be more vaulable between them... its hard to know”
