Six Cylinder Lycoming 540 / ACE-568 Efii Conversion Rocks! | Ace Performance (http://www.heavy-fuel-engines.com/six-cylinder-lycoming-540-ace-568-efii-conversion-rocks/)

I had to look twice, but I'm pretty sure this constitutes innovation in SI recip aero engines!

330hp on 91ULP is pretty impressive - if it is coupled with longevity. Anyone know how they achieve this figure? All down to good induction, combustion chamber design and FADEC?

If they can do it, what are Lyconti doing?

Lumps, does this modded engine come with an STC or can it only be fitted to experimentals?

I'm pretty sure that it's an experimental engine. The certification process is so expensive that you're just not going to see too much in the way of improvements to the certified engines.:ugh:

Experimental - but innovation doesn't seem to have a place in the certified arena anymore. In this particular category anyway.

Interesting that they can get so much more power on low octane fuel - I'd say this is largely due to FADEC but they seem to attribute much of it to intake / cylinder design. I can't see how that works but that was much of the reason of the OP!
