Hello,
I've called into the authorities.
But - looked like 2 seat, single engine (PA-38?), coming down with engine failure. M4J11, just to the west and south of the motorway.
Very graceful and in control.
Half the office watched a lesson in gliding.
Hoping all involved OK, and plane not too dinged.

Probably traffic into Englefield strip and therefore nothing to worry about.

Too far west....

Could have been simulated if it was a training flight, I remember coming down to around 500ft AGL over fields during my PPL.
Regardless, you did the right thing to call in :)

Where exactly is this Englefield Airstrip? Coordinates?
"just south and west of J12" would place it in Theale rather than in Englefield

Englefield strip is indeed near Theale (on land owned by the same people that hosted a certain high-profile wedding in this area over the weekend!)
There's a restricted area pretty close to J11 just south of the M4.

The estate is owned by the Benyon family.
The strip has been in the news in the past...

500'.... yes... 'around '
..? ;)
'Around' because I was too busy thinking about that imminent simulated EFATO to be looking at the altimeter 😂

Used to be called Theale and in fact was listed in Pooleys as such, but there was a wartime landing ground also called Theale slightly south east.

I am curious too!
on a sidenote: I have tentatively added the Englefield runway to the map, could someone confirm I positioned it correctly?

There's also a grass strip at Woolhampton to the west IIRC. I had my first jolly in a microlight from there.

Looks about right Jan (I am a local so know the location well).
Grass strip being referred to at Woolhampton is actually the one known as Brimpton, I suspect.

Thanks for confirmation. As for Brimpton, that may perhaps be called a proper airfield rather than a strip, it even proudly carries an ICAO code of EGLP!

It was a Piston Provost flying in to a private strip near Burghfield (near Reading services).
