For a minimum fuel load weight -100, upwind fence 15ft can anyone give me the shortest practical landing length for non paved strip please. Assume strip is sea level, with expected on the nose head wind of 10knots. Civil diversion airfield within 10mins flying time. :cool: Thanks

Normal crew only - no pax - two thirds seats

An opening yardstick would be London City, 1199m paved. There was some landing distance bonus for 5.5 deg approach, but the length also provided a commercial takeoff load.
Alaska operation - Dutch Harbour?, may have been a gravel runway.
There was also a gambling operation in the Caribbean reported to have used 1000m gravel.
1060m rough paved demo landing in E Africa, similar on Indian Ocean Islands with mixed paved and crushed coral - Malindi?
Low pressure tyres may help to reduce landing distance.
These distances used a 1.67 margin as applied for take off; depending on local rules for landing, e.g. actual +15%, then shorter distances could be used (but not with me on board).

Many thnaks PEI_3721, I was hoping for something around 1000yds mixed surface, albeit Northern hemisphere. I was working off some early tables and that confirms for me what would still be a realistic but achievable no brown trouser event.
Did Plymouth (900m?) some time ago in the mil 146 (100) but with tiny payload.

mcdhu - And I bet without a tail wind :-) My involvement was a long time ago ('83 mil) hence the need to referesh info. many thanks for confirming that 1000m is possible.

I believe that Prince Charles knows a thing or two about operating the 146 into marginal airports. :p

Dan Air used to operate a daily schedule into Berne in a 146 with high loads; about 1200m?

A few years back one or more of the Formula 1 ones visited Blackbushe (1200m physical tarmac, but LDA a bit less than that).
Sorry, not un-paved of course.
