If we charged that much extra for IMC training hardly anyone would do it.............

25 PPL
45 CPL-IR
55 MEP IR

Are more up-to-date rates. Unfortunately I am unaware of UL-ML FI rates.

Rumours of £40/hr for microlight...

Personally, Northern UK;
21/hr PPL (school 10 mins away from where I live)
25/hr PPL (1 hour drive)

We're £25 per hour for PPL and IMC but that's for a FI with restriction removed. No extra for briefings or de-briefings. Also expected to get a/c out and put it away again, refuel, do billing and other admin etc. No retainer.

As long as there are 'hours builders', pay rates will remain low

ok, so thats the pay sorted out, perhaps we can go to the next survey, and the question is, do schools charge qualified instructors for the check ride to work for them?

I didn't charge a potential instructor for a quick check ride or the standardisation flight. Don't charge any instructors for standisaton training.
Training to upgrade (night instructor etc) is done for free on the proviso the rating is then used.

We have to pay our own renewals such as FI and medicals. Buy your own charts, pens, uniforms etc.
Definitely you will need additional job(s) to be a FI.

We don't charge Instructors to standardise.
