A question for Tower and Ground controllers in the UK. If an aircraft tug calls on your frequency with a tow request or something similar, do you place a strip on your board (or electronic equivalent) with the tug's callsign to show it is on the manouvering area ? I'm reasonably certain this is the case for Fire tenders, bird scarers, Ops vehicles and so on. Is any information added to the strip or is it simply the callsign ?

Thankyou.

Yes. Info may vary per unit but for ours it would be: tug callsign, aircraft type, tow location plus any clearance limits etc

Yes we do, same info as Squawk7500's unit.

Basically any vehicle that requires an ATC clearance gets a strip on the board in the appropriate place with the details. We don't have strips on vehicles that are operating without reference to ATC (as we don't know if they're on the manouvering area or not), this would mainly be airfield ops vehicles.
