Hi there

I've got my assessment day coming up, any tips or anything.

Dress code is smart but what would people wear dont want to be over/under dressed.

Thanks Fraser

Doubtful you will get a response, Fraser.
Many of those reading this will be your competitors.

I don't think what you wear will be having a major influence on your result....

You could try reading the NATS interview thread, there's plenty of stuff in there about how people turned up

Shirt and trousers for stage 2, tie and suit jacket not really necessary as you're just doing computer tests not meeting anybody. Then for stage 3 (interview) definitely suit and tie.
Read the nats interview thread for tips on stage 2 prep, if you want to practice you can purchase skytest software online, otherwise trust in your natural ability on the day. If you don't pass first time, reapply a couple of years later, many don't get it first attempt.

You're not in a competition as such, NATS are so short, if you're good enough, you're in.

Agree. You are not competing against your peers.

Take a few minutes to think about your question. What do you think would be classed as a 'smart' dress code? Do a little research online, there are plenty of sites out there who can advise after a basic search.

At the end of the day, you won't go wrong with a smart jacket and tie. Nobody who turned up to a function where the dress code was 'smart' ever looked out of place in such clothes.

Just tear holes in the knees of your jeans and you'll whizz it.

I wore a suit to all interview stages and that didn't hurt me. Don't worry, when you're valid you can pretty much wear what you want within reason. Though some folk take it too far and get things banned. I assume someone wore indecently short shorts and that's why shorts got banned :ugh: :}

Baby steps.......Let's sort the jacket and tie first.

Have you completed your stage 2 yet have mine coming up soon and wondered more about the tests?

Has anyone completed stage 2? If so, does the flight information on the back of the NATS provided information booklet matter/ is needed for the test??

Also, is anyone attending the assessment day this week?

I applied to Nats last week, and they sent me an email saying I had only a few days to complete the first online tests (stages 0 and 1), then a week to book and do the assessment days/interviews (after reading I had three months)...I'm currently in Australia and won't get back in time, and I can't get hold of them by phone or email! They seemed to say if I didn't Keep to these deadlines my application will be withdrawn and I will have to wait 24months. Anyone had this themselves? What should I do?

Hi Becca, I think it's a week to book your assessment day but you can choose to attend any assessment day they have slots on. They usually release dates for the upcoming 3 months. Keep trying to get in touch but I'm almost 100% certain you've got as long as you need to actually attend. It's only the booking process they need done within a week.

Hope that helps!

Hi all,

I have my stage 2 assessment tomorrow! I'm going for a suit with a shirt and tie. Could always take the jacket off if Im feeling overdressed but better to be overdressed than too casual.

Also, bit awkward but because Ive travelled from Glasgow, I'll be taking a small cabin bag which I'll need to leave somewhere whilst I'm in. Hoping this wont be too much of an issue!

Good luck if you're headed there shortly!

Best wishes,
Jonathan
