Hello guys,

Flying soon to some remote regions where HF is to be used.

Can somebody remind me the correct phraseology?

First contact: ground station twice, callsign, frequency used.
Then ( when first contact established), give the informations ( POSITION, FL...etc) but do we have to repeat these informations twice?

If somebody could give me a comm example, it would be nice.

Thanks

Hi Raptor71,

There's no need to repeat the main body of the information twice, unless the reception is very poor. Example radio transmission is as follows:

You: Santa Maria Radio, Santa Maria Radio, Raptor71, 8.879.

ATC: Raptor71, Pass your message.

You: Raptor71, Position EGVAL, Time 2151, FL290, MISPA, Time 2212, HOSPO next, SELCAL (if you have it) AB-CD, Raptor71.

ATC: [will read back message and test your SELCAL]

You: SELCAL Check OK.

Hope that helps. Happy Flying!

....and the advice when using HF that I was given some 50 years ago:

"English, loudly spoken, built an Empire!"

CPDLC much easier, and you don't have to shout.
