I have been loathed to comment on the CX pilot/ company relationship, however a recent post on another thread has tempted me to write. I have been watching this slow motion car crash from the sidelines merely as an interested observer, but I'd like to make a couple of comments if I may.
This year has seen some controversial decisions taken. Brexit and Trump being two global ones, and the AOA decision to reject the TA locally. All three got in by a very small margin, leaving just under 50% of the electorate deeply unhappy.
However, the majority has spoken. You can whinge all you like about not liking it, but it's the path that has been chosen and you now need to back it 100% to get the result you want. I really couldn't believe it that you suspended CC for a typhoon, or crew preparing for flights in their own time before a duty ( not to mention the duty time implications of that should an incident happen) or working on G days or going into discretion. Are you in CC or not?? You will have to support this thing 100% whether you voted for it or not for it to be successful. Otherwise you are wasting your time.
Damaged Goods
From experience I've seen that CC is at its worst is only an annoyance for the company. What really gets their attention is experienced crews leaving. That is the only thing that got KA pilots a decent package. Over a four year period nearly 25% of the pilot workforce resigned. Basically the company thinks that if you are not leaving then it can't be that bad.
There are a number of you guys that really should leave. You have been so damaged by this fight that even if CX capitulated fully now you still would not be happy. You have been damaged beyond repair ( as far as CX employment goes anyway). Leaving would have a double benefit. One, you would be far happier and two, the remaining pilots would have far more leverage.
Reading the comments on here there are quite a few I could name ( but I won't) that shout out as " damaged" and really should leave. You are the ones that hate CX, hate HK and China, don't like the Chinese. If that is you then you are in the wrong job in the wrong town. Do yourself and all your colleagues a favour and leave. It really will be the best for you. ( unless of course you secretly enjoy it)
I am really hoping for the best for you guys, but at the moment you seem unhappy divided and rudderless.
