Aircraft lost Coms, escorted to PIK by fighter jets. Prob a non-story but thought I'd post anyway. Only know because police have closed the dual carriageways at both ends of the runways and traffic in Prestwick is a nightmare.

The unfortunate thing about this incident was the aircraft being on its delivery flight, to Mexico via Iceland. A spot of embarrassment for the crew perhaps?

I drove into Ayr along Prestwick bypass just before 1700 BST and got a good view of the aircraft - wondered what was happening until it was mentioned on radio news a few minutes later. Traffic seemed pretty normal for that time of day; a Cargolux 747 landed (Rwy31) about 1650, just after a 737 (probably Ryanair) departed, so PIK seems to be working normally too.
