Title says it all. The whole fleet of Pegasus Airlines (24 A320s and 58 B738s) is offered for weat-lease available immediately. I knew it's bad in Turkey but not this much...

The Turkish "Airport News " journal published this news on 3 October. The Pegasus advert is published with the article run by Airport News. It can be accessed at :

It mentions the fleet size as 77 and not 74 and reason for their action as a nightmare year continuing for airline operators. Not much doubt about that, is there.

Yes it is that bad and likely to get worse. With the Caribbean basin getting a right pasting at the moment, it is likely to have an adverse effect on the Christmas run to most of the popular destinations there also. There is a lot of over capacity building up fast.

77? Things have changed since Aer Lingus started them then sold them with a pair of B734s in the mid 90s. Nearly twice the size of Monarch. A record year for passenger travel and yet the 2 previously mentioned carriers, Air Berlin, Air France etc losing fortunes. I really hope we're not about to go over another cliff already.

That's a bummer. They were launch customer for LEAP-1A A320NEO with all kudos to CFM.
There are unconfirmed reports that Turkish also delaying some deliveries.

Not surprised. Turkish tourism is down more than 30%, with occupancy rates around 40%. For a tourist operator, that is a big hit. And you can bet that holiday costs have been considerably reduced, to attract customers, which again reduces the profitablity of those who do go.

But who would want a wetlease from Turkey? Hardly a reputable region to get aircraft and crews from - some of the worst standards I have seen in aviation. Did you know that no T captain has ever made a mistake - apparently? I heard it many times.

LONDON (11th October 2016) - Further to the recent erroneous news stories based on Pegasus Airlines advertisements which have inaccurately reported on the wet-lease of its aircraft, Pegasus Airlines would like to provide clarification that the airline currently is offering only 3 of its current fleet of 77 aircraft, of B737-800 and A320 types, for its long-term wet-leasing plans.
The advertisement in question referred to the Pegasus Airlines fleet of 74 aircraft - the fleet size at the time of the advertisement purely in order to provide general information about the total Pegasus Airlines fleet size, not in relation to how many aircraft were available for wet-lease.
Pegasus is continuing to provide its scheduled service as normal across its domestic and international networks with the remaining 74 aircraft servicing 33 destinations in Turkey and 69 in the rest of the world in its network of 102 destinations in 40 countries.

1930's World knew of Edward and Divorcee while UK couldn't report it.
Yes I know you arrived a little bit after that but things haven't changed on journalism front much since then.
