Well, that certainly gave him some extra time. But probably not the extra time he was initially looking for. :E

He's a double winner, won't have to visit either Kelowna or Calgary for an entire year.

The accommodation isn't free -- The Canadian tax payer is footing that bill.

A bill for the cost of his stunt may focus his mind. To be paid over the next 10 years.

Apparently he was offered a plea bargain for 30 days in a Toronto halfway house, but he elected to go to jail for a year.

"No Your Honour, please, anything but that", he begged, and the judge, not wanting to cause permanent emotional scars, granted his wish.

"I can understand the concern of the accused", said the judge. "I wouldn't wish 30 days in Toronto on my worst enemy."

Well, the last post was in jest, of course, as I have worked in the system. But he certainly got a sweet deal - a "kiss" as it is called by defence counsel.

first faced charges of uttering threats, possession of a controlled substance (he was found with heroin and methamphetamine), and endangering aircraft by false information as well as the mischief counts

Maybe a dose of some "controlled substance" caused his moronic behaviour.

If I read the Register story correctly, the fool made his threat call From His Own Telephone. That alone should get him an additional year, simply for being so STUPID. :}:ugh:
