"Animal welfare campaigners have raised concerns"
I wonder if they'd be so concerned if THEIR kid was saved by an eagle taking down a UAV bomb?

This works until the first shock-delivering drone.

The moment one of these birds damages a foot on a drone it will be unable to feed. I am with the animal welfare lot for once

May I suggest Australian Wedgetails, their toes are like kitchen knives. Having had several experiences of their attentions coming at my hang glider out of the sun with those massive talons outstretched I have no worries that they are not up to the job. They are not all of the right stuff though, on one flight about 4,000ft up over a place called Beaudesert several years ago, one flew over and landed on my wing tip and perched there for a ride for a minute or so. Must have thought it was a cool kind of surf board in the air. No sign of any scratches on inspecting the sail after landing.

Good for the Eagles, still i'd be concerned they would be hurt if they were hit by one of the props.

The obvious issue with using these birds near aerodromes is that they're a bit like the ornithological Clint Eastwood.

They won't swerve for anyone or anything.

Id "like" to see these birds take on bigger drones with carbon fibre blades?

I do not think this is a good idea.

Seems a great opportunity for some 'drone pigeon' shooting practice with high power 12 bore. Environment friendly hunting. "No animals/birds were injured in this pursuit."
