1-What is the difference between the latitude of the point A and the point B, which are located on following parallels of latitude:
A:15dgr 54` 30"N
B:10dgr 33` 30"S

2-True course is 055,wind 310/25.variation 6W and aircraft is flying with a true airspeed of 113 kts. What is the magnetic course ?

3-Tas is 80kts,the wind correction angle is +19 and headwind component is 20kts.What is the ground speed ?

A:15dgr 54` 30"N
B:10dgr 33` 30"S

Sorry that i have to open this post here because i couldnt find any other forums to help me.Im PPL STUDENT and my teacher is on holiday so,i appriciate for any help.

Thank you,Nina

Number 1 is simple arithmetic. Make the South latitude a negative number so:

15º54'30" - (-10º33'30")

Which, because the minus signs cancel each other, is the same as

15º54'30" + 10º33'30"

My answer:

26º28'00"

It may help to visualise it by drawing some lines on a bit of paper with the equator in the middle.

2. This is another simple one that has been intentionally made to look complicated by adding unnecessary information. Magnetic course is just the true course +/- any variation. You add west variation to get magnetic course and you subtract east variation ("variation east, magnetic least, variation west, magnetic best"). All the stuff about wind and airspeed is just there to confuse you.

Answer:

055ºT+006º=061ºM

3. Ground speed is just true air speed +/- wind component. Once again the question is trying to confuse you by adding unnecessary information. Headwind makes the ground speed slower than TAS and a tailwind makes the ground speed faster so:

80-20 = 60 knots ground speed.

Hi,

Thank you so so much for your answer and spending time to my questions.I have matched your answer but it doesnt match with the answer which question has.

Im agree with you about answer because if there is headwind GS will get lower but not sure why there is not your answer in the question !? :-/

Best regards from Finland.
