Herald Sun and others reporting 4 seater plane reported it was ditching around 7:30pm EST and has not been seen since. Police airwing reported to be on scene and Aerorescue, VH-PPQ is currently on route based on FR24

Geelong paper says the plane turned up in Coffs. Very strange.

I think I recall, I may be wrong, that there has been a previous episode where the rego of an aircraft from a certain club has been taken in vain. I'm not sure what happened to the person, allegedly a former instructor, that allegedly did it. but then, the rego could be seen by any spotter through the fence.
