From Avherald. Have to ask - gasoline? Normal ops for Saudi?

A Saudi Arabian Airlines Boeing 777-300, registration HZ-AK25 performing flight SV-116 (dep Jun 29th) from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) with 144 people on board and dangerous goods (mainly gasoline)...

Well, they were already on my no-fly list. This just puts them on my super-no-fly list.

Allegedly, this was possibly fuel in the tank of someone's Roller/Maserati/BMW or whatever

Takes me back to the Aloha Combi with the pickup truck wobbling around on the other side of the curtains on the way from Honolulu to Christmas Island.

Herod,

Why would SV be in your No Fly list?
Standards are as high on SV as on the other ME3 ( and also on the AAI operated aircraft by the way)

Granted, no alcohol onboard, but anyone having a problem with that should not be in an aircraft, but in rehab.

A number of years ago, someone had brought some gasoline on board a Uni Air MD-90 as carry on luggage and the result was a total hull loss.

ASN Aircraft accident McDonnell Douglas MD-90-30 B-17912 Hualien Airport (HUN) (http://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=19990824-0)

This could have turned out far worse.

That's a bit personal, and a wrong assumption. As it happens, I'm teetotal.

Really? There isn't enough clinic space to accommodate everyone who likes a glass of wine with dinner.
Just because you get done over in Iceland is no reason to deny everyone else a glass of wine.

A couple of buskers managed to get a generator full of petrol under their seat (http://news.sky.com/story/124154/buskers-cause-petrol-scare-on-plane) on a BA flight out of Naples once.

And there was this Shenzhen Airlines arson attempt (http://avherald.com/h?article=489da82b&opt=0) last year, where a passenger used petrol to set fire to his seat on approach.

I rather think that a gasoline fire would have produced substantially more worrying symptoms than mere smoke in the cabin, don't you?
