Tokai for every birdstrike??

So yes, the way everyone is interpreting the new regulations is to submit every bird strike. There is no definition there like 'bird strike affecting flight...' etc.

You are right, but it sounds so strange...Sometimes in our airport we have 5 or more daily bird strikes and normal operations for all of them, and yet we must fill in a Tokai form for each one during our break time....Probably it needs to be regulated in a different way...

Yeah, the new regulations are pretty generic, especially for ground handling. It states any non-compliance on baggage reconciliation is an MOR, we all know how much baggage goes missing! I think the CAA are swamped with reports to be honest, but it's the rules.

The whole ECCAIRS system has been designed to speed everything up to counter the extra reports.

The whole ECCAIRS system needs to be revised, because the extra reports in our service are the majority, and for ATCO's it means to be overloaded during their break time, and it could be penalizing for their performances...

When I was at Heathrow in th 1970s we had 210 bird strikes in about 10 minutes, necessitating the closure of both runways. Lucky I did not have to fill in forms for all of them

A report needs to be filed, but presumably it doesn't have to be by the ATCO with the bird strike frequency. Surely support staff can be utilised for this. Rest breaks are exactly that and should not be used for anything other than rest.

In fact Dan I agree with you. We have asked for this kind of resolution to our leaders, but they have confirmed that only ATCOs must fill in one Tokay form for each bird strike!! In case of 210 bird strikes as told by Heathrow Director, we have to transform ourselves into typist...
