I have been looking for a flying club to join around London in order to get my PPL and have found the London Transport Flying Club (LTFC) based at Fairoaks airport. I'd be grateful for any advice from someone who has flown at the club or better still, obtained their PPL there. Many thanks.

There is the Civil Service Flying Club based Rochester as well, run a very nice C172P at £99 a tacho.

I have some info on this if you PM me your details.

I have flown from Fairoaks in the past but not with LTFC. Reports indicate it is a very friendly easy going club, not too busy on weekdays so it's probably best to fly then.
They've recently got rid of their AT3 and replaced it with a Eurostar (microlight category). The original plan was to buy a CT3 but I understand the company building them has 'problems' hence the change to the Eurostar. They also have a '172 and several PA28s.
The club is only open when someone is flying and the phone number on the website goes to the club, so just turning up 'on spec' might not work; best to try to arrange a time to visit in advance.
